Two week cancer pathway for lump in boob

Help! I am seeking reassurance. I’ve been to the GP this morning as I found a lump in my book and the doctor has referred me on the two week pathway. He says it’s 2x2cm moveable lump. I’m 38 and feel worried sick 😥

A friend was referred for something similar recently, they did a bunch of tests & she got the results the same day. Thankfully it was a cyst so just something to keep an eye on.

Hopefully it won't be anything malignant, 9/10 breast clinic referrals aren't cancer.
But, if it is, breast cancer treatment has very high success rates and 2cm is relatively small and therefore early detection.

I found a lump last August, breast clinic appointment involved mammogram, physical exam, ultrasound & biopsy. They were very thorough.

You are obviously going to worry, there is no point telling you not to. Try and find things to fill your time while you are waiting to try and distract you.

Best of luck.

@ChasingsquirrelsWow they did all of that in the appointment. Can I ask how long you were there and how long it took for the results to come through?

They tend to keep going until they have clarified the issue, hence mine progressing through those steps - mine was cancerous.
I then had to wait for the biopsy results, but they had made it clear they expected the results to show cancer.

I was probably at the clinic for around 3 hours on the first visit.

This was me recently. One stop breast clinic, mammogram, ultrasound and a good feel by the constant. It was a cyst and drained then and there.

It’s difficult not to go to the worst place but at this stage it is an investigation the lump could be a number of things.

Update: I went private today through my health insurance and had an appointment with consultant, a mammogram and ultrasound and they’ve said they are confident it’s a benign lump. The radiologist said it has no characteristics of a cancerous lump but are doing a biopsy to be 100% and they said they may also remove it. I am feeling a lot lighter this evening but still hanging slightly with the biopsy but both radiologist and consultant confident it’s benign

Great news, don't forget to take yourself off the NHS list so that another patient can benefit.

@Ljzjtanot to alarm you or scare you but I was diagnosed in December and I was told by the radiologist and consultant that they were 99% sure it was benign, had biopsy then 2 weeks later- it was grade 1 cancer unfortunately. Very small 1.9mm but still the word.
i would hate for you to walk into that room for results not prepared for either scenario.
Like a pp said 9/10 are not cancerous.
Fingers crossed for you x

When’s your appointment? I’m waiting too. Lump + pink mark + dimple here. Not sure how good that is looking. My appt is next week. Tad worried, but taking the approach that it’s not, until I’m told it is.
