Concerns over a freckle type thing on my leg

I have a freckle type ‘thing’ on my leg, right at the top and in the groin area. It’s right near my girlie bits but on my leg. I noticed it a few months ago and I’m sure it wasn’t there before. I read about a girl having a similar (but bigger) growth on her face and it turned out to be malignant melanoma so now I’m freaking out. It is only small (smaller than the width of my small finger nail) but it is raised in a section (the dark brown section) and slightly lighter brown elsewhere. I can’t really look at it because of where it is but I took some photos (see below).

It’s obviously in an awkward place and somewhere that isn’t exposed to sun. It doesn’t appear to have grown. Maybe an age thing? I’m 54 and female (post menopausal).

Do I need to get it checked out? Photos are not very clear, sorry.

I don't think anyone could comment in regards to those photos but if it's a pigmented lesion with an irregular surface or edge it's worth seeing your GP, lots of things it could be, most not important but reasonable to get someone to look

Make an appointment with the GP. Probably nothing but better to be safe than sorry.

I have had loads of things checked over the years as I am so pale I am conscious of risk factors. Every time it's been ok. GPs are used to checking this type of thing. Definitely check it out. It's could be nothing but best to be safe.

If I were you I’d get an urgent appointment to see your gp and to ask for a referral to dermatology asap

Yes, definitely get it checked out. DH had similar on his knee and it was a melanoma. It was caught early ( 1a/b) and they just cut it out. Good luck Flowers.

Thanks all. I’ll make an appointment.

Yes, get it checked, but to offer some reassurance I have dozens of those all over my body and limbs.

I had to have one checked recently GP took a photo with a dermatascope and emailed it to dermatology and I had a dermatology appointment the next week. Wasn't anything sinister but they were very efficient I'd just make an appointment
