Advice for supporting a family member after a double lumpectomy

I’m going to be looking after a close family member after her double lumpectomy for breast cancer. Does anyone who’s been through this have any advice on things that might be helpful to have to hand either in the hospital or at home afterwards?

Hi, I have had a lumpectomy. Most useful is an underarm cushion for comfort and protection. It’s also needed for the journey home to stop the seat belt rubbing. A long phone charger lead is useful as it’s painful to lean downwards, and just to have everything that you might need within easy reach. Clothing needs to be front button fastened so that it doesn’t involve stretching up to pull over your head. Bio oil is good for scarring and I was also told to use moisturiser, something like moo goo to help with scar tissue and tightness.

i hope everything goes well for your family member.

Thank you. That’s really helpful.

I found natural deodorant cream really soothing on my underarms after my breast surgery.
