My 12 year old daughter has had a small freckle on the inside of her big toe for many years. 5 weeks I noticed that it had grown in size, was bumpy, dark in colour with irregular edges. GP referred her on the 2 week pathway to Dermatology due to concerns of skin cancer.
The skin cancer i believe in question is Acral Lentiginous Melanoma. Not the type caused by Sun damage. Pics included.
I'm beyond worried. Blood tests have come back fine. Saw the consultant dermatologist who said the word cancer in front of my 12 year old and said that it doesnt look right and would need taking off for biopsy with a 3mm margin by a plastic surgeon. That surgery is next week, a wait of only 4 weeks thankfully. My daughter thinks the mole has got bigger.

How scary for you, and how fortunate that you spotted the issue,

Every reason to be worried, but great you got it spotted and biopsy soon.
I am privately struggling with a new melanoma diagnosis. It is completely treatable (caught early) and had previous experience but even with knowledge and adult logic, I’m scared. I can only imagine how much worse that would be if my child and then trying to be brave for them.
Sending you strength & wishing good news.
