I'm a little bit between a rock and hard place atm. 22 months ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer (aged 50), and was put on tamoxifen following surgery and radiotherapy. Recently, and it may or may not be connected to tamoxifen side effects, I had a period so heavy I collapsed at the GP's and was hospitalised for 2 days. I'm now on iron tablets, recovering from blood loss anaemeia and having a hysteroscopy in 2 days' time.
But my main fear at the moment is my next period. If this happens again, my only option is to take TXA which you're not supposed to take with tamoxifen as both carry a blood clot risk. The consultant says the benefit will outweigh the risk if bleeding is that heavy again. And I know I'll have to, but I'm frightened I'm going to end up with another health problem.
Anyone have experience of taking them together? [I can't take progesterone/ have a Mirena coil due to bc history.]
