Smear Test Results

Had a smear test done, nurse phoned me today. Has anyone been for this? Ive had two children. No STIS, havent had intercourse in two years.

Referred for Colposcopy
HPV 16 HPV 18 NOT DETECTED
OTHER FORMS OF HPV DETECTED

I also have smelly discharge and what feels like rough bumps on my cervix

i have my hospital appointment on thursday after a positive smear test two weeks ago.

They have a see and treat policy here so may end up with LLETZ if needed.
Slightly worried as had a spot of bleeding but due to the pill I havent has periods for about 7 years.

A few things worth noting. I had HPV for a few years, picked up on routine smear. It had lied dormant in body for a while (it can appear at any point, stress, low immune system, etc).

I had to have a piece taken for further testing, turned out to be OK and nothing more, just then reviewed with annual smears not 3Y smears.

The fact you’ve got a smell would make me think Sti or infection but if you’re sure your clear and you’ve not got BV or thrush; it’s looking like given you’ve got bumps it might be something else.

I did a quick search and 16 and 18 are the risky cancer causing ones. If that’s not detected then you might have low risk hpv, the type that also can cause genital warts (which again, can lay dormant).have you examined yourself? The fact you say it’s ‘bumpy’ might be warts.

i wouldn’t be alarmed just yet since the nasty ones have turned out to be undetectable. Just to let you know my HPV is now undetectable and has been for atleast 10 years, doesn’t appear on any smear and all scans clear.

NC for this - have just had a letter asking me to come to a coloposcopy but haven’t had my screening results yet so have no idea what strain of HPV has been detected. I have occasional
flair ups of genital warts - could it be that strain rather than the high risk strain? having a bit of a panic 😞

You can get both HPV and GW and not be the scary kind of HPV
