Anyone else waiting on breast screening appointment

I feel like I’m going out of my mind. I’ve had some fleeting shooting pains in my left breast over the past of months so went to the GP yesterday. I was shocked when she found a lump. I have always checked my breasts at home and didn’t think I could find any but my breast have a lumpy texture anyway which I thought was normal for them.

My appointment at the breast clinic is on Monday and I am utterly terrified. I’ve googled everything and not sure what else this could be but cancer. I’m 43 so not in the age range that makes a Fibroadenoma more likely. My daughter is only 2.

Is anyone else in the same boat.

I know how hard it is not to worry when you’re waiting for the appointment, but please remember that it’s very rare for breast cancer to cause pain. I hope your appointment goes well and you can stop worrying xx

The wait is so hard and it’s normal to feel utterly terrified. Google and ChatGPT are not your friend right now, regardless of how tempting it is. Try and do self care this weekend, hot bath, good book and lots of cuddles with your DD. Regardless of what it is, you’re now on the right path to an answer and a plan

I had my appointment yesterday - if it helps, it is a great service they offer, very efficient and caring. Everyone there is a specialist in breast care and conditions and the whole process is set up to be as efficient as possible without feeling rushed. Good luck.

I'm waiting too, my referral was made last Monday but I've not heard anything yet and the city I live in the 2 week pathway is closer to 4 weeks.
I feel like I've losing my mind with the other thinking.

Frustratingly I wasn’t examined fully today. I had a consultation with the breast surgeon who thinks it’s an area of nobular tissue and wasn’t too concerned, but he advised an ultrasound and mammogram which I’m having tomorrow.

Expected everything to happen today but have more waiting to do.

@BuffyWillow it’s hellish isn’t it. Have you tried calling them? I’ve had luck getting seen sooner when I’ve called rather than waiting for the appointment letter.

Thanks @CP26the appointment was fine but scans a bit of a mixed picture so I had to have a biopsy. Now back waiting which as we all know is hard but time will eventually pass!

Sorry to hear you couldn’t get everything sorted today but glad you’re back in tomorrow.

Pleased to report everything is fine. They think the pain is because that breast has more glandular tissue (it’s bigger than my right breast) and more sensitive to hormones.

Wishing the best to everyone on this thread.

My breast cancer was so deep it was only picked up by mammogram.
Just by the regular screening.
Just seen your update I'm glad everything is fine.

@Worryabouteverything Sorry to hear about your cancer. I hope things are ok.

I think I will get a private ultrasound and mammogram every year or two from now on. I won’t be eligible for NHS screening for another 7 years.
