Should I be concerned about this?

I have a referral to Dermatology but have a while to wait.

I have melanoma and no, it doesn’t look particularly worrying to me. But I think it’s good you get it checked out for your own peace of mind. If it’s not a cancer pathway referral (you wouldn’t have a while to wait if that was the case, I was seen in 5 days, surgery 3 weeks later), then that sounds promising. To me, it looks more like eczema or a similar patchy rash.

Looks very much like a patch of actinic keratosis that I have on my forehead. I went to the Mole Clinic to get it checked out (cost £40) and they confirmed. Got a referral to GP who said no treatment needed for now, just make sure to use SPF. So definitely get it checked for your peace of mind.
