Has anyone done keto diet during treatment?

I’ve got stage 3 colon cancer, have had it removed with surgery, and am starting chemo on Friday.

Looking at stuff on google (I know I shouldn’t!) it seems like there’s a bit of evidence that keto/low carb diet can reduce side effects and and can stop/slow tumours growing.

I’ve done it a few times for weight loss etc and I’ve always felt well on it. But as part of the cancer operation I’ve now got a stoma so it doesn’t feel as easy to switch to low carb.

Has anyone tried and what were your experiences?

Please please ask your consultant

Yes, I will do obviously, just asking whether anyone has done it.

No, but my advice would be to get on treatment, see how you feel and eat what your body needs. I lost 10kg in about 6 months without trying (I’m on targeted therapy, not chemo, which is generally easier than chemo). Eating was hard for the first few months. I really had no appetite. I was drinking huel drinks just to get some calories in and coat my stomach so I could take my medicine. Your body will tell you what to eat.
