Melanoma stage 1

I have stage 1 superficial spreading melanoma skin cancer, waiting for the surgery to make sure it’s all gone.
I feel lucky in a way it could have been worse, but also a bit shocked.
I’m due to go away next week somewhere hot and want to make sure I protect myself from the sun. Does anyone know of any good retailers who sell fashionable and nice UV clothing, not tight rash vests.

yes hoping to get some reassurance. I am struggling to choose a private clinic for mole scan, I booked one but I’m now concerned that the Dr isn’t actually a dermatologist, he seems to be a GP with a special interest. How did you find one? I have heard that some doctors just look with naked eye rather than dermascope?

@molly1977
All of mine have been on the NHS. I have been offered it without having to ask each time. I know it’s not routinely offered but I had two melanomas where the only symptom was that they had increased in size and I have around 200-300 moles, many atypical. With both of my melanomas it was me who caught them and was told that they were ‘fine’ by GPs and dermatologists. I had to literally beg to have them excised and biopsied! I’m hoping after two they will trust my instincts with my own body so that it won’t be a fight to get any others removed in the future!

I have annual NHS mole mapping in dermatology.
i was told they discharge you after 5 years if no recurrence at my last appointment.
They agreed on the mole I was suspicious that had got darker and biopsied.
I’m not getting discharged again for a while now as 5years resets!

waiting for a date for my Wider local excision. Just want it out already!
Had one on my toe joint for years I have been concerned with. They taken pictures to monitor under dermatocpe and say it’s fine. I can’t help think it’s my next one 😩
