Hello everyone, I just wanted to get people’s experiences/thoughts really I went to the doctor today as for some reason my boob in general was quite itchy and it felt quite tight (not painful) so I did a check and I found a very small lump near my nipple- I went to the doctors and she said it was small but there is a lump and will be referring me for the 2week breast clinic. I’m early 30s and my nan died early 40s with it so I am worrying however what I’ve found when reading is that periods can effect it as well- the GP didn’t ask about where I was on my cycle and I am actually on my last day of my period- could this be a possible reason why the lump is there?

Also don’t know how I’ll be able to concentrate until my appointment any tips would be appreciated- I know it’s more unlikely being cancer than it is but only went to the GP this morning but feel completely out of it!

Thanks

I think I’d feel really dismissed if I went to the GP with a breast lump and they asked where in my cycle it was. They know that some women are more lumpy than others, that there are lumps that are larger during different times in your cycle etc, but that won’t influence them re a referral. The vast majority of referrals for lumps under the 2ww are simply to rule out anything sinister, but better to be safe.
I know it’s a worrying time, waiting is awful. I hope all turns out to be okay for you Flowers

The GP will refer everyone with a breast lump on 2WW without asking any further questions - breast clinic is all about better being safe than sorry.
