Can I claim any benefits? Breast cancer

I'm in my 7th month of BC treatment. I'm on half pay from work, and have just started a phased return. However, I'm finding it too much due to the side effects of the previous treatments, as well as the current treatments. Are there any benefits I can claim to top up my half pay from work? FYI I earn a very low wage, my partner is quite a high earner (we co-habit). I just want to be able to take the pressure off myself for another 6 months to see if I feel better. Thanks in advance

Do you have a CNS (Cancer Nurse Specialist) contact from MacMillan ? They should be able to give you some ideas of what you might be eligible for.

Off the top of my head I'm afraid I can't think of anything - your partners high earnings would probably rule out UC as you'd need to claim as a couple.

New style ESA might be an option but I think they would take into account your pay and deduct it so may not be very beneficial.

Thank you very much for replying. I do have a CNS, so I will ask her. Unfortunately I think you are right though. I'm certain I would not qualify for PIP, and my partners income would put us above UC threshold. It's just hard suddenly having such a reduction in income, I'd work if I could!

How are you doing now?

I hope you’re doing ok OP. Is your partner willing to financially support you to go part time or have a career break while you recover?

Is this not what pip is for? See if you can claim that.
