Breast Biopsy Results Delay - Should I be more worried?

Hi
Was due to go for my breast biopsy results today, following an area of calicification being picked up on first mammogram. The Consultant Radiologist who did Ultrasound said nothing was jumping out and worrying her.
The hospital rang this morning to reschedule results appointment for Wednesday (2 days) saying either more tests on biopsy/no full results yet/2nd opinion required.
This has sent me into a frenzy, convinced I now have cancer.
Anyone else been in similar situation with delayed results and what was the outcome. Xxxx

It sounds like a standard response to cover all three scenarios so I would not jump to a panic, especially given the radiologist performing the test did not see anything that jumped out in the test. If they were certain it was a bad result, they would not delay. It may be that you have dense breasts and combined with the calcification they are pondering doing a follow-up ultrasound which is pretty standard. Best of luck, and try not to worry.

My results were delayed at times during my treatment. The departments dealing with them are overstretched and need more time to process the volume.
wishing you all the best.

How did you get on today?

Hi got biopsy results today. DCIS 7mm low to moderate grade. There is another area of breast they more want to biopsy (they never mentioned this area at recall appointment) and then hopefully it’ll be a lumpectomy and tablets. But as I’ve learnt plants can change.

Sorry to hear it’s confirmed, @Peachslice At least they’re being super thorough in looking at the other area. It sounds like they’ve caught things very early for you but none of us want to be in this situation.

I hope you have clear next steps soon.
