Vulval Cancer

So I’m terrified.
I have been referred on the 2 week cancer pathway for a likely carcinoma on my labia. She said it has characteristics of both basal cell and squamous cell, hence the urgent referral.
Ive also had discomfort in my groin and although GP couldn’t feel anything suspicious, I’m obviously terrified it has spread although GP was reassuring that spread would be slow in this area.
Has anyone had anything similar, particularly in the same place?! I’ve read lots on skin cancer in more typical places but vulvar seems to be rare. 😥

I didn’t want to read and not comment. I’m really sorry about your diagnosis.
ive no experience to share, but have also heard that vulval cancers are often slower growing. I really hope it goes well for you. I know it must be scary, but take it a day at a time. Take care.

One of the possible complications is spread to the lymph nodes in your groin. This could be the cause of the discomfort.

I had this happen (not vulval cancer though) and was treated with chemo and radiation. 12 years later I’m still all good.

It’s frightening but should be very treatable.

I'm sorry to hear this.
It's not a cancer I've experienced but there are a lot of reliable facts over on the MacMillan Website and a community forum for others in a similar position
