Scan after heavy bleeding... 2WW Biopsy MRI

Hi all,

I've been here before. On the 2 week pathway that is. Twice. So... I'm not unusually worried, I'm glad our local NHS gets it sorted... However, I wasn't quite expecting today...

No bleeding for 15 years due to (the same) Mirena coil. Happily single, kids adult or teen, no period no thought.

About November 2924... Hmm... Maybe I should come back in morning 🤣🤣

Short story - haemorrhaging blood and clots. Internal scan. No fibroids. Mass at back of womb (could be bowel??). GP at hospital put me on pathway for uterine endoscopy, which I now know is a hysteroscopy or something. A Biopsy and at first she wanted CT, but wanted to speak to someone who I assume wasn't her Avon rep. Although 2 hours later... And now it is the hysteroscopy, Biopsy and MRI.

I mean, my suspicions were raised when the sonographer (?) (I didn't want to call her the scan lady) said non moving mass - could be your bowel. Then an hour later the doctor said - it could be your bowel, but...

I'm no physician or sonographer (I hope that's her title) BUT.... I would have thought they'd scanned enough wombs to see where the bowel fits behind.

Does anyone understand what I'm saying?

I won't lie. I came home and ate a healthy salad and did some pikates - pikates 🤣 Ahem. Pikates. Ffs. Plates.

I came home after 4 hours, had some pie drank vodka and watched Grace. Alright? 🤣

So yeah... Maybe I just need a big poo. Mass gone. She has prescribed many a progesterone to stop the bleeding too. Because Provera and Norithe ster stuff has worked wonders in the past.

I just want someone to tell me I'm a twat.

Thank you muchly.

P.S Don't all get arsey if I don't reply within minutes... I've worked very hard on knocking myself out tonight.

That said, like clockwork... I'll see you at my 2am wee.

It's okay, I always talk to myself.

Just received a phone call.

Yikes!

Hope it goes well and that it's followed by positive news promptly afterwards. Sorry I don't know anything more specific for your situation.

This board can be fairly quiet, general health gets more traffic.

Ok so this is obviously scary but you’ve asked for help and the nhs is on the case. So this is progress. Ultrasound is not always very good at distinguishing whats what and if you were constipated then that’s doubly so. Somethings causing the bleeding though. If you’ve had the same Mirena for 15 years it’s well past its sell by date so your lining may have thickened up. Could they see the Mirena on the scan? As I’m sure you are thinking it could be diverging to do with ovaries or could be the uterus itself. Endometrial cancer does present with abnormal bleeding but because of this it’s usually found early and can be successfully treated. Hope the scan goes smoothly. Keep eating - pies or falafel - you need the energy!

Sorry for delay in replying.

MRI was moved to today. All went fine. As MRIs go.

I'm really grateful it's being pushed through.
I had the Mirena removed in February finally. It really was a case of - if you're not bleeding, come in quick. I had my doubts they'd find it, but apparently it was almost hanging out!
I had a smear done at the same time. No HPV detected, so I was told that was fine.

I had a CT when referred for bowel problems 2 years ago and then was told that bowels were fine, ovaries fine.

The MRI is due to this 'mass'. I'm sure sonographer said non moving mass at back of uterus but could be your bowel.

Well, I'll find out in due course! Of course I've Dr Googled and it's another brain tumour.

Anyway thank you for the replies. I'm not partaking in alcohol or pies tonight. I am eyeing up some Mini Cheddars though.

I love my local NHS. When you do get seen, they're on it.

I shall await my hysteroscopy/Biopsy letter.
As discussed with Dr, if all is well, I'll just have a new Mirena. I'd rather just have a hysterectomy.

It sounds like you've had a few steps forward with positive outcomes so fingers crossed for more of the same from the MRI.

I find Dr Google doesn't have the greatest bedside manner with all the terrifying hypotheticals, so I maybe wouldn't consult him again during the wait.
