No, but my cousin was foolish and vain and had a couple of lumpectomies.
I miss her every day.
I saw your post and wanted to support you.
What can I do?
How can I help?
Can’t you sleep?
It must be awful uncomfortable.
Did the doc give you anything for sleep?

Maybe somebody will be along who can offer you more comfort and kinship.
Sending love ❤️

I had a mastectomy on the left last year. Try to keep on top of the painkillers, although I didn't notice much pain. Biggest advice for sleep is to get a v pillow to prop you up, I couldn't sleep without mine for a few weeks. I think you just need to feel all the emotions you feel, it's a really tough process at times. Any questions please just ask, and I'm sorry you've had to have the surgery. Hope you recover from it ok, keep doing the exercises! 💕

Well, I’m having a mastectomy on the left side soon so I’m watching this with interest…….

I had a mastectomy on the left side last September after a couple of lumpectomies couldn’t get clear margins. We do the best we can with the information our medical team give at the time and advise.

I second keeping on top of pain relief (I was surprised how little I needed, although possibly due to keeping up with the paracetamol). Making sure I had plenty of pillows helped, firstly needing to be propped up a bit to sleep and then to have one behind my back so I could tilt back on it.

There’s a very supportive thread about breast cancer on this board where you would be very welcome amongst the fabulous women who are having a shit time.

It’s a nightmare for some months. I had mine done in August 24. I still struggle to sleep on my left side as a side sleeper. But you get better. Keep on top of your exercises to avoid pains and stiffness later on. Use a small thin cushion to prop yourself up. It does get better. Good luck.

I had a mastectomy after a failed lumpectomy and was actually really positive about it pre-op, just wanted it gone by that point!

But, boy oh boy, afterward it was a different story for a few weeks.
I think I grieved for what I had lost.
after all , as my DH said, it’s been a part of you all of your life.
it’s quite normal to feel like you do.

but it does get better.
I’m 3 months on and I’m fine about it, sometimes I forget about it and suddenly realise it’s not there.
im sure I have phantom limb syndrome at times, convinced my nipple is itchy, then go to scratch it and remember it’s gone 😝

its so early days for you. Be kind to yourself and let others support you.

ive just finished radiotherapy and am missing being able to say ‘but i have cancer so you’ll have to change the bed yourself’.
its the one time in your life you are entitled to be waited on hand and foot.

good luck with your recovery
