Hi all. Just looking for others who may have been in the same situation and/or support really. I’ll do a timeline so it’s easier to understand.
june 2024 - massive stemi heart attack, stent inserted 30% of heart damaged left lower ventrical
sept 2024 - blood in urine, sent for ct scan, cystoscope, bladder scan. A couple of small stones found referred for a ct with contrast
nov 2024 - ct with contrast shows lesion on left kidney. Could be blood clots or cancer or anything in between
dec 2024 - admitted for urine retention, bladder wash (omg excruciating) and 5 days on ward, kidney failure. After 5 days all returned to normal.
feb 2025 - another ct scan with contrast. Lesion clearly visible, no change since nov scan. Told it’s almost certainly transitional cell carcinoma
so it’s been a bit of a year. I’m advised I need a full kidney removal asap although the lesion hasn’t changed so hopefully it’s ’low grade’. I can’t have a biopsy as I’m too high risk if they then have to remove anyway, so the procedure will take place and I’ll find out after what it actually is. They are hoping to hold off on the op till June when I will have been on the heart meds for a year thus decreasing (slightly) the risk of having the op. I also have osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylising spondylitis, and psoriasis for which I take methotrexate. And my BMI is still too high.
so I’m looking for anyone else who has had a high risk kidney removal or any other insights please. To be honest, at this point I’m less concerned with having cancer than I am about not waking up on the operating table.
