Hi,
I had a mamo and ultrasound a year back while on holiday abroad just for screening purpose as they don't start until your 50 in UK. I was advised to repeat my ultrasound in 6 months due to a lesion in my ducts.
Fast forward I went to GP in Feb for this and was seen by the consultant at the breast clinic on 5th March who arranged my ultrasound. This was done on 11th March and the radiologist did see the lesion and did a biopsy. 2 weeks today I get a call from the breast clinic to come in tomorrow for a repeat biopsy no reasons given.
I am very scared as they did the biopsy so why are they repeating it again. Any advice is appreciated

a repeat biopsy honestly just means something was wrong with the first biopsy. It doesn’t mean anything into relation of what was found. I had this when they hadn’t gathered enough cells. I did have cancer but that particular lump in my armpit turned out to be nothing!

It may be that the results of the biopsy were indeterminable. I had this recently where after the biopsy the results could not be determined and the consultant said it was one of two things. In my case the consultant’s next recommendation was to have surgery to remove the lump but I assume in some cases they would repeat the biopsy instead to get a clearer result before surgery.

I empathise and it is scary but everything may be completely fine so please try to stay positive (hard I know!).
