Medical cannabis during cancer treatment

I’m curious if anyone has used prescribed medical cannabis to treat side effects from treatment. I have stage 3 melanoma being treated with targeted therapy.

The therapy seems to be doing what it should, but unfortunately, one side effect is that I have joint pain and swelling in my ankle, knees and wrists/hands. At the moment, I just live off ibuprofen and cocodamol, but it’s barely touching the sides of it. It’s bad enough that I struggle to get back and forth to the toilet at night, or hobble around the house (I’m 44 and was very active and fit before all this). My oncologist has said next step would be oral steroids (or stopping tx altogether, which I don’t want to do). I really don’t want to spend the next 9 months on oral steroids though. 😩

I’m wondering if anyone has used prescribed medical cannabis for treatment side effects (I’m particularly thinking THC oil or capsules) and did you find it helped at all?
