Dad 70 has B Cell Lymphoma - Any stories

My dad has been diagnosed with high grade B cell lymphoma. What started as back pain has been investigated by mri and then surgical biopsy as a tumor on his spine causing nerve issues hence the pain. He has had a bone marrow biopsy and have picked up abnormalities there making this stage 4. Ie metastasis

not sure what is the primary cancer ie the tumor or the bone marrow and not sure it matters 🤷‍♀️

he is undergoing radiation (2 sessions done) and will have another 8 over the next 8 days. And then chemo.

any stories to share. My mom is beside herself.

Sending strength op. I had what is now called high grade b cell lymphoma a few years ago, ( at the time it was called ‘triple hit), mine was caught early ( stage 2)

The treatment was tough and involved a lot of inpatient time, but I am still here, and completely clear.

Only word of advice is don’t google. I did and if I had believed everything I read I would have given up.

If your family has a local Maggie’s centre, it’s worthwhile talking to them; or you may have a local charity affiliated with the hospital. I personally have nothing good to say about MacMillan, but others have positive experiences.

💐for you.

Hi,

My husband was recently diagnosed with this and the grading of it (Stage 4) is different to other cancers. There is great information on the Lymphoma Action website

lymphoma-action.org.uk

I would also really recommend joining the Lymphoma Action Support UK group on Facebook you will get much more of a response there to here as I haven't found many experiences of lymphoma here.

Wishing you and your family all the best x

I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's diagnosis.

My DH was diagnosed with aggressive diffuse large b cell non Hodgkin lymphoma in August 2023. He was stage 4, and the cancer was also present in his bone marrow. He was very, very poorly and we nearly lost him.

However, he had 6 rounds of chemotherapy, and so far he is in complete remission.

It is one of the more treatable cancers. I found the online community on the Macmillan site very helpful. There are different types of cancer forums on there so it might be worth a look. My DH's consultant just told me to look at Macmillan or Lymphoma Action - and to ignore everything else.

I wish you and all your family the very best. X
