Letter after colposcopy and lletz procedure

Two weeks ago I had a colposcopy and lletz procedure after an abnormal smear, High grade dyskaryosis. At the time the nurse said she had got it all and didnt see anything sinister and I'd get the results in about 4 weeks.

I got a missed call yesterday followed by an appt letter today for an appt this Thursday which was saying it was with a consultant but the consultant name is crossed out and the nurse who did the colposcopy written in instead.

Obviously i cant call anyone to ask as its the weekend so i am now thinking the worst. I work in the nhs so i know an appt in 6 days means urgent, i dont know why its with the nurse and not consultant and whether thats a good sign or not, i just have jumped to it obviously being that the cells are cancerous and ill need treatment.

I lost my Mum 5 years ago to cancer 4 months after she was diagnosed and i am freaking out, i have a 3.5 year old and 1.5 year old, i cant leave them without a Mum, Im just looking to see if anyone else has had similar and whether im on the right track or need to calm down.

I didn’t want to read and run. My experience with colposcopy is that they always move quickly and I’ve had very positive outcomes each time.

It’s possible they didn’t take adequate samples. Good luck.

They probably want to do a test of cure. Basically another colposcopy. If it was anything sinister, I'd imagine your appt would be with a consultant, not a nurse.

Test of cure is done six months after treatment, tinkersfig.
OP - sometimes the histology turn around on results is quicker than anticipated, just because the workload is a bit lower than usual. Hopefully there is someone you can speak to on Monday on the phone.

I thought it would be too soon for anything like that. Its got to be bad news or why would they have me in? I just hope its something like they tested the cells and they were cancerous but they got them all. Im really thrown by the nurse saying she couldn't see anything sinister.
