Three days post mastectomy and so much bruising

I had a single mastectomy on Wednesday now I look as if I've been in a car crash.
So much bruising has appeared since Thursday.
I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this.
Luckily I don't have much pain and my wound looks clean, as in no bleeding , swelling or leaking.

But for the love of god, I look like something out of a horror movie!!

I spoke to my cancer nurse yesterday who was not concerned.

Is it really normal?
The bruising isn't contained to the wound site.

I thought I was ok about all of this but now I'm finding the reality of my breast not being there quite unsettling.

Please tell me it gets better!!

Hi Op, you are being a bit unrealistic. You've gone through major trauma with this surgery, you'll get rid of the bruising soon enough.
Recommend you go on the Macmillan website for BC discussions - great site.
Good luck!!!

Do you have a drain? Did you have reconstruction?

Bruising is normal and will fade. You say its not at the wound site. Where is it?

Yes its normal ,my bruising was wide spread and with all the staples it all looked quite shocking.

Best wishes with your recovery

Totally normal. It will go down in time. Best wishes.
