Utrogestan and thickened womb lining - anyone experienced this? - 2ww referral

I posted this (last night) in the menopause thread but posting here for help also. TIA.

So when I was prescribed HRT (gel) less than a year ago I was also prescribed Utrogestan which was supposed to keep the lining of my womb thin, as I understood it. I've had a few bleeds post-menopause and a week ago today had a GP consultation where she expressed concern and referred me for a TV ultrasound. I was contacted the next day and went for the scan the following day. I was told to wait a week to speak to my GP about the results. The next day I had 3 missed calls from the hospital, when I called them back I was told I needed to speak to my GP. She called the next day (Friday) to tell me that my womb lining was thick and I would be referred under the 2ww. This afternoon I received a call from the hospital with an appointment for another TV ultrasound and an appointment with a consultant tomorrow. I'm reeling from how fast this has moved on and terrified about what this means. Well, I know what it means, my GP told me I was being referred because of the cancer risk. Has anyone else had this and what was the outcome please? I'm really scared.

I have a thickened womb lining. Discovered after I had unrelated surgery last July. I was on Kliofem tablet HRT for 7 years and then started bleeding heavily after unrelated surgery. Saw GP, was told to come off HRT immediately and was referred to Gynaecology under the 2ww.
Had the ultrasound and tv ultrasound and saw the gynaecologist a week later. She took a biopsy and it came back clear. I am now on a low dose of oestrogel 1 pump and 100mg tablet of gepetrix for endometrial protection. Like you I was worried and scared, but the gynaecologist is seeing me again this April for another scan and biopsy.
Did the Gp advise you to come off HRT whilst this is investigated? The next steps will be the tv scan and then a biopsy. Whilst a thickened womb lining left untreated may lead to cancer yours has been discovered so with the right treatment the risk is still low. I hope when you’ve seen the gynaecologist you will be reassured and you will get swift treatment. Whenever you hear the 2 ww you’re mind immediately jumps to the worse outcome. HTH

Yes. V common with HRT. At least you'll be seen quickly. Good luck op

I had a thickened womb lining but in my 20s - to this day they couldn’t find what caused it. But if it helps they told me that the reason why they double check for the cancer risk is because with a thicker lining cysts and other abnormalities can be “hidden”. My results were all clear.

Im hoping it’s just protocol for you.

Good luck x

I had been on everol conti 50 patches for 3 yrs and had had two separate spotting episodes. Both times referred on the 2ww pathway. Ultrasounds and hysteroscopies done both times. My womb lining the second time was 5.7 mm hence the procedures done. All results came back normal so my Dr said it was my HRT. I am now on Everol 75 patches and progesterone tablets one per night to protect my lining. The gynae Dr told me one of the downsides of HRT is sporadic spotting. Waiting for my results was awful my mind sent me into overdrive.
