Moles

How often do you check your moles, if at all? Going through a bit of a worry at the moment with my 5 year old who has a mole which has turned considerably darker. Took him to the docs who only allowed us to see student doctors who said it's fine. Wasn't happy so have requested another appt with a fully qualified doctor as tbh I would like it to be referred to a dermatologist.

Anyway, whilst I'm worrying about that I have started to examine myself and am now paranoid about my husband. He doesn't check his moles and he said he's not worried - but he is very moley!! My question is whether you do it? Its consuming my mind lately and I'm starting to have morbid thoughts and like something is going to happen to one of us :( I've become very much a hyperchondric the last few years and worry and overthink everything and this is my latest subject!

I have tonnes of moles so I couldn’t possibly check them all. However, I’ve found it can be noticeable when one changes. I had one that I started to notice was much darker and NHS removed it after checking it.

Are you in the UK? There is more worry in Australia/NZ due to hole in the ozone. They have to be very careful there. On your 5 yo I guess miles are still forming so probably normal but fine to ask for a second opinion if you are worried.

You can pay privately to the mole clinic or similar and have them all checked and mapped. Worth doing if you are worried.
