Possible ovarian cancer

looking for some hand holding 😔
ive had a weird 24 hours and now on a cancer 2 week pathway!
I saw my GP back in October for a virus, myself and my kids were really poorly. Anyway in the end I was back to normal however he wanted to check some stuff out, so ordered some bloods, all that came back was low iron which we discussed and I had some iron tablets. I’ve also always had dermoid cysts on my ovary’s and randomly for a few months I had some painful periods (not anymore) so he ordered a scan and here I am! The sonographer mentioned dermoid cysts and endometriosis but nothing else. Ive also read the report and it says no masses seen or free fluid. Anyway the doc then ordered a CA125 test which came back elevated at 74 so now I’m on this pathway but his report said really scary sinister stuff which has confused me and I’m terrified! He said none of this to me and the report didn’t read like that. It said at the bottom as I was symptomatic the refer to gynae! ☹️

I've had ovarian cancer, sorry you're going through this. The report from the sonographer sounds reassuring, and CA125 levels can be raised by endometriosis, so it may be that. Women with ovarian cancer can have CA125 levels in the 100s, though it can vary. It's not great that the doctor hasn't talked this through with you. The Eve Appeal were really good when I was going through my cancer if you wanted to talk to somebody independently. Good luck Flowers

Hi there OP I'm going through something similar.
I have a rescan next month.
CA125 can be raised by other factors which the GP should have told you.
When my mum has OC her ca125 was 9000!
Thankfully she responded to chemo despite being stage 4.
I would be glad to be being referred.
Better to find the cause and I hope it is something trivial.

Thankyou. Sorry to hear about your cancer, it’s scary isn’t it! ☹️

@whatisforteamum have you had symptoms? I wouldn’t say I have any symptoms at all. It’s all so confusing. I’m glad your mum had a good outcome. And let me know how your re scan goes x

My symptoms were bloated tum constipation and peeing more.
Classic OC symptoms.
My CA125 was normal but they found a simple cyst.
They will rescan and check CA125 every 3 months.

How are you doing @Nicholls211

I had my CA125 results today and it’s 85. I’m hoping it’s raised due to endometriosis but my scan showed something iffy (an endometrioma but vascular) - I’m not sure what happens next.

Nicholls211 · 03/06/2025 18:34

@Nothankyoucyst how are things with you? I’ve just had a re scan after 4 months and my endo cyst has grown a bit but consultant still not concerned. I’ve now asked for surgery as I can’t live with his hanging over my head. Absolutely convinced it’s cancer

Remember that CA125 can be raised for a variety of reasons and does not necessarily indicate cancer. 2WW is a way of making sure you get seen in a timely manner. Many people have 2WW appointments and investigations which show they do not have cancer. It’s natural to be very worried but at the moment you don’t know if you have cancer or some other benign condition.
