Womb / Endometrial cancer symptoms but diet / weight confusing the issue

I lost my periods around 3.5 years ago age 47. I was on a strict diet and when I dropped past bmi 21 they just stopped.

i had no further bleeding until this week and ive had what would call a normal period. Symptoms beforehand (tender breasts etc) and period pains. Ironically I’ve been putting a bit of weight back on and have just passed back up past bmi 21. Now age 50.

GP has referred me for tests etc based on post menopause bleeding. I don’t know if I’ve had a menopause, certainly never had any symptoms that I know of. I have no other risk factors for womb cancer.

i sort of imagine bleeding from a gynaecologist cancer would be a bit more constant, perhaps on-and-off, but it wouldn’t be on a monthly cycle. And you wouldn’t get the premenstrual symptoms. But then this is all new to me. I am now 50.

Am posting in case anyone can shed any light on all of this.

Your GP was right to refer you. Maybe you don't have cancer, but the only way to be sure is to have the tests. If it's just perimenopause rather than cancer, you can feel relieved and then decide how to proceed. If it is cancer, you can get the treatment you need.

FWIW I am well past the menopause and didn't have any symptoms apart from the lack of periods.

Knowledge is power.
