Lump on cervix

Freaking out and worrying about a lump that was found on my cervix by the gp after symptoms of bloating, inter menstrual bleeding, fullness, cramping and back
pain.

In 2022 I had a routine smear and High risk human papillomavirus was detected along with high grade dyskaryosis (CIN2) I had a loop excision which was very painful and an awful experience after giving birth to my first child only 4 months prior. I had terrible bleeding after and had to spend the night in hospital and it was a very bad experience.

I had a smear in Feb and no HPV was detected so I wasn’t checked for abnormal
cells. Been having these symptoms a while and also had 2 occasions of fainting in the last few months which has never happened tk
me before, I my health anxiety is not great atm.

seen the GP yesterday who reassured me that my cervix was likely fine and the examination would put my mind at rest, but as she checked she said ‘I’m so sorry it’s not what you wanted to hear, but I can see a lump on the opening of your cervix.’

now I have a hospital appointment for next Monday to get it better looked at but I’m so worried due to the history and past experience. She described the lump to be between the size of a big pea and a small grape.

I don’t know what will happen at the appointment but I suppose I’m looking for advice and also just need to vent how I’m feeling . I’d love to hear anyone else’s similar experiences . Got two young children at home and this is all I can think of and I feel terrible.

thanks so much in advance!

Gosh I’m so sorry, this is horrible for you and I’m sure the worry is all consuming. I really hope you’re seen fast and all is ok. Hugs & a bump to see if anyone else has advice.

Hopefully it's just a polyp or something completely benign.

But you won't know until you're seen.

Sending you positive thoughts!

Hey did you ever find out what this was? I've just found 2 myself and waiting for a gp appointment in 5 days, I'm quite nervous!

Geo0905 · 23/05/2025 19:20

@Wrekt so, it turned out to be scar tissue from my previous loop procedure, it just looked like a polyp . I hope you can ease your mind whilst your waiting for your appointment, got my fingers crossed for you that the GP can reassure you or get you to the best person to investigate ASAP, bug big hugs!

@Geo0905 so glad it was good news for you! Mine can't be scar tissue, I'm thinking either polyp or one of those cyst things, we'll 2 of them atleast lol. Thank you for updating!
