Qfit test question for any GP on here willing to answer.

I'm wondering why the level for general colon cancer screening is 100 but the cut off for those with symptoms that could be are 10 and above.

I'm thinking that the high general figure could miss an awful lot of cases particularly in those who have symptoms but don't realise.

Or does the general screening ask you if you have any general symptoms when you provide a sample?

I have symptoms, my level is 14.

I'm being asked to do a repeat qfit.

Not sure why I'm not on the 2 week pathway from the first result. It's also been 2 weeks for the GP to ask me to do another test.

I have read that for my county, Devon it's more of a 28 day pathway with higher risk people being seen first.

I'm 54, IBS, 18 months of severe stress, one breakdown, loss of my mother.
My symptoms of IBS have been exacerbated over a period of the last 3 weeks with a huge amount of bladder pain which isn't usual for me.
No UTI on testing. It was sent off.

Constant bowel movements of many different types.

One day last week I had 8 normal movements totally not corresponding to food intake.

I'm awaiting the 2nd qfit.

Can I demand a colonoscopy even if the results are less than ten?

Hoping a nice GP will share knowledge.

Just so frightened.

Thankyou

A tiny occasional bit of red blood only on wiping at the end.

Firstly a result of 14 is relatively low so the odds are in your favour. The cut off is higher for non-symptomatic testing because they are trying to balance the number of unnecessary investigations against the number of cancers identified.

I am in a similar position mid 50s with unexpected change in bowel habits. My qFIT is 70 and my platelets are very high so I will probably end up on the 2 week pathway (need to speak to the GP on Monday). Even with my results the it is still more likely to be some form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease than cancer.

I had general screening last year (negative) and I don’t recall being asked about symptoms.

I know it is a scary time but remember that what ever it is it is now being checked.
