Weekly paclitaxil and hair growth

Hi all

just finished my EC chemo (4 rounds of the Red Devil!) and have lost about 70% of my hair with cold capping.

am moving onto weekly paclitaxil in November and have heard from a few people that hair can regrow whilst on treatment as the disease is less harsh.

Wondering if anyone can enlighten me?

The nurse I had on the day unit yesterday told me lots of very positive stories about hair regrowth, both from a 'continuing cold capping even though most of my hair fucking fell out so why bother' perspective (which is what I asked him 😂), and also regrowth during paclitaxel. So I feel a bit hopeful.

I had 4 lots of EC then 12 weekly doses of paclitaxel and cold capped all the way through. I lost about 30% of my hair and it did start to grow back towards the end of the paclitaxels. By the time I finished all my hair was back.

I also kept most of my eyebrows and eyelashes throughout and then annoyingly they all fell out after I finished chemo.

i am now 8 weeks post-chemo and all my hair is back, although it is curly! and my eye brows and eyelashes are back.

I know it’s hard persevering with the cold cap but it was definitely worth it for me and I feel like it helped my regrowth where it did go thin.

I’m not sure..I might have to go back on weekly paclitaxel and have been told I’d like lose my hair again.

I’ve just had my second pax today. I already have a monks tonsure on my crown 5 days after my first treatment, about 1.5 inches in diameter. I’m cold capping so we will just have to see what happens.

I’ve done 2/12 paclitaxil now following my EC.

haven’t cold capped for these two and some of my hair has started to fluff back in. Mostly my underarms (never thought I’d be this happy to have fuzzy underarms!) but DH has noticed that some of my head baldy patches have started to look stubbly. So I’m hopeful.

Fingers crossed there @ememem84 I’m off for cycle 4 of pacli today. This morning, I had quite the autumnal personal care experience when washing and won’t need any bikini waxing for some time. I cannot believe how erm, pretty much everything, dropped out in one fell swoop! Hoping my head hair has read the cold cap rules.

I had 12 weeks of paclitaxel. I didn't cold cap as I didn't care really. Just had my hair cropped first.
I did lose about half of it but it was after it stopped that I lost more hair plus eyebrows etc.
It grew back about 3 months later as fluff. I shaved that off and then it regrew as proper hair, albeit curly. Was fabulous for a year then back to being dead straight.
