Sending love to you, OP. If you’d like to talk things through with someone (when you’re ready), please look up www.braintumoursupport.co.uk

Sending you a virtual hug. I hope you managed to sleep x

OP Sending lots of love as you navigate these next few days and weeks.
All I would say is that your loved ones will care about you dearly, and you should tell them when you feel you want to. Not before, and not after. Your treatment is entirely about what you want and need.
Given your parents age and the distance I can see why you would want to hang off telling them, but also if you think having them with you would help - call them. Ultimately we’re all just big kids trying to figure out a way through in the world. Sometimes seeing your parents is the best medicine for the heart xx

@Wells37 my dad was also told he had a brain tumour in A&E, following a suspected stroke. His is also 2cm x2cm. They told him it was cancerous. HOWEVER, it turns out his is a meningioma and is a benign tumour, which has likely been there for years! His symptoms were headaches and tinnitus, with occasional dizziness (before suspected stroke). He had an MRI a few days later which confirmed meningioma.

Im trying to say (hopefully not too badly!!) that there is a chance it is NOT cancerous, and could be a benign tumour, like a meningioma. It is terrifying when they tell you that in A&E.

I hope you are Ok and please remember, until they do a biopsy to confirm it’s cancer, it may not be xx

I managed 2 1/2 hrs sleep. My friend text me all to keep me company. They said hopefully my husband can come I soon. I phone my closest friend she's coming to see me this afternoon if she allowed.
I'm exhausted with all the beeping of machines and the confused guy giving a 10min update on the time and asking where he was!

Kids just know I'm in hospital for tests until we know more. They are going to school and college today

i do find the above a bit odd - might be worth asking the day shift if this is normal practice?

It isn't that odd, as quite often certain types of breast cancer can result in a brain tumour. I know this as my sister in law had this happen to her Sad

leafybrew · 27/09/2024 07:26

@Wells37 sorry you're going through this; hoping you manage a better night's sleep tonight [hugs]

withalittlebitofhelp · 27/09/2024 07:27

I’m so sorry - it must feel very frightening.

one thing, please have someone with you when they come back with the scan results (the ones you’re due to have) as it can be hard to take in what they are saying by yourself.

Wishing you every strength xx

Not odd at all. I had a breast scan in 2018. They are checking in case the brain tumour isn't a primary.
All dr have been great

That must have been a difficult night.

At least now you will start getting seen and scanned etc. Good that your DH and friend are in touch, I hope they are with you soon.

Have you been able to drink a bit of water? Just wee sips.

ArabellaScott · 27/09/2024 07:35

Or a sweet sugary drink would be good if you can.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 27/09/2024 07:47

A friend had a brain tumour, still here 15 years later ... try abd stay positive. Good luck! X

LurgyMagnet · 27/09/2024 07:51

Oh I'm sorry @Wells37 that must've been a massive shock. Fingers crossed it's at the scary but eminently treatable end of the spectrum of tumours, rather than in the "things we're not even contemplating at this point" one. If you're likely to be in for a while, get your husband to bring you some earplugs, and possibly an eye mask too, in the hope that will help you sleep better. If you don't have them, they often sell them in the hospital shop, although superdrug is cheaper. Good luck.

Weenurse · 27/09/2024 08:01

I am so sorry you have this news, sending positive thoughts 💐

ArnieandBob · 27/09/2024 08:01

Sending you love and light 💕

My friend had a brain tumour 20 years ago, it was a journey but he is living a great life now.

Josette77 · 27/09/2024 08:12

Thinking of you and sending love. 🌷 xx

IncognitoForLife · 27/09/2024 08:14

Sorry you're going through this, @Wells37 . I'm a brain tumour survivor and can remember the shock of the diagnosis. I'm completely recovered now and you wouldn't know I'd ever had one. Happy to DM if it helps.

MadisonAvenue · 27/09/2024 08:16

Thinking of you and sending much love 💐

TypingoftheDead · 27/09/2024 08:17

I’m sorry you’re going through this, @Wells37 , good that you got some sleep and you have a good in person support network. Hugs, and hope you get good results from the tests.

Was it benign? Both my late father and one of my sister's had pituitary adenomas (benign tumours). My dad had two operations and radiotherapy as even though it was benign it had been growing for years and destroyed his pituitary gland. My sisters was treated successfully with medication.

Yes, it was benign.

FiftynFooked · 27/09/2024 08:22

Do you mind me asking where the tumour is and what were your symptoms OP? Only because a couple of years ago I had a lot of headaches and was diagnosed initially with a cancerous tumour in my sinus cavity. Turns out after the biopsy it was a benign pituitary tumour but apparently looked very different on all of the scans!!

Just wanted to say wait until the biopsy for a definite diagnosis.

Much sympathy for the hospital though. I spent several weeks in on and off and it's just impossible to sleep! Ear plugs and sleep headphones helped me doze but it's hellish!

Sending gentle hugs xxx

So sorry for this news. That sounds logical in case it's a metastasis, breast is one area you can really examine clinically and could be relevant connected to age and sex. A quick win, if you like. The tumour itself will show if it is a primary or not anyway but this would have ruled in anything obvious. Always feel free to ask why or what is happening though.

I've had treatment for a brain tumour (surgery and radio) and am awaiting follow up scan results. You're in the system, that's the best thing. Just take it a step at a time and try not to speculate, just await confirmation of news each step at a time.

Don't start googling. The brain tumour charity are good, give them a call if you're in limbo and want someone to process things with.

Front right I think. My symptoms arm spasms and left arm weakness and thinking about it I've been quite clumsy too. Odd head ache but that's not unusual for me
