Wonderful! One step at a time. Big hugs x

Ukrainebaby23 · 06/11/2024 11:53

Really pleased with this news, thanks for the update.
Can I just give a little shout out for the radiographic teams (who will have done all your scans and no doubt be thinking I wonder what happened to @Wells37).
I'm sure they'll wish you all the very best and I do so too.

Been thinking of you waiting on the histology @Wells37 - hope it’s good news (or as good as can be hoped for)

Wells37 · 08/11/2024 07:55

Thanks everyone.
Full histology isn't complete as it's complex and not what they were expecting I think. It's not a glioblastoma though, they now think it's a melanoma which has spread from somewhere else. So a secondary rather than primary tumour.
They said this good news as melanoma are responsive to lots of different treatments.
So plan is now to find the primary, I have noticed a funny but tiny bruise on my finger which according to google could be what a melanoma looks like on the hand.
I have an appointment with a new consultant today to plan what happens next and hopefully get some more information. I have written a list of things I want checking.
They want to do a short targeted radiotherapy in a week or so around tumour edges too.

Oh gosh. Thinking of you and fingers crossed for the best resolution.

Youcantcallacatspider · 08/11/2024 08:15

What a rollercoaster you're on OP! Definitely mention the fingernail thing to the specialists. It's possible this is the primary. Best of luck with the next steps and keep us posted if you feel able xx

Horses7 · 08/11/2024 08:16

Hoping for good news for you,.OP.

Mischance · 08/11/2024 08:47

It is good that this is all being thoroughly investigated - but it is a lot to get your head round I am sure. I hope the treatments and further investigations go well.

CarrotsAndCheese · 08/11/2024 09:21

Thanks for the update. I'm so relieved to hear that it's not a glioblastoma and that they believe they can treat it. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you that the treatment works well x

Clearinguptheclutter · 08/11/2024 09:23

Not being glioblastoma sounds like very good news

Just wanted to say that I have melanoma and had very successful immunotherapy which cleared tumours in my lungs as well as skin. There is a great facebook group called melanomates you might want to join. Lots of people there who have had brain mets treated.
Very best of luck and if you ever want to talk melanoma or immunotherapy please feel free to message me.

LatteLady · 08/11/2024 10:45

Really pleased to read your latest update and I hope that it is making it a little easier for you to breathe easier as you think about the future. Still thinking positive thoughts for you as I realise this is going to be mentally and physically challenging but hope you are drawing strength from your virtual friends here.

Tvp123 · 08/11/2024 11:05

As a previous poster said the treatment for melanoma has come a long way and a number of stage four patients are going into remission. Some people never find their primary but that doesn't stop treatment being successful.
All the best.

LurgyMagnet · 08/11/2024 13:18

Well that sounds promising. Hopefully the appointment with the consultant today has been reassuring, and the treatment plan isn't too daunting.

Lookingforward01 · 08/11/2024 14:27

Sounds very positive.

I hope it all goes well!!

Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts

SockFluffInTheBath · 08/11/2024 14:58

That sounds much more hopeful, small sigh of relief. Best wishes for the treatment going forward.

Wishing you well op, sending mucho love. That sounds like a positive update.

spiderlight · 08/11/2024 23:20

Oh goodness - what a rollercoaster you're on, but this does sound more positive than initially thought. 🤞

titticaca · 09/11/2024 15:17

Hope you recover soon. Please make sure your vitamin D levels are high. Recent research has shown that people with low levels don't respond to cancer treatment as well as someone with high levels.

Ten thousand units a day should be enough.

Ukrainebaby23 · 10/11/2024 12:28

And how is life @Wells37 are you feeling OK?
