I seem to have been sucked into an alternative reality!
Initially being investigated for potential cardiac issues and a chest xray showed a large mass. CT followed which revealed a large mass in the mediastinum which was originally described as of unknow aetiology. I joined the 2 week suspected cancer pathway on the 11th August as a result. To date, I have seen a consultant (no answers), had a PET scan and at the start of this week, had an EBUS (bronchial biopsy) which was deeply unpleasant as sedation was not very effective. Yesterday, the biopsy report was added to the NHS app by the GP and states under diagnosis cancer probable.
I am so unsure what to do. I have spoken to the specialist nursing team who have told me I am on the list to be discussed at the weekly MDT tomorrow and that someone will phone me late tomorrow to give me the diagnosis and treatment plan outlines. I have support from a work colleague who is also a friend and has said I can go to hers so I am not alone when I get the call but I am unsure as I feel I am putting too much reliance onto others and I don't want to wear out anyone's goodwill.
If you got a phone diagnosis, did you have support around you?
