Positive Fit test

My stools changed and I had very loose stools for 13 days, they are back to normal now. I got bloods and a fit test done. My bloods have come back normal but my fit test has come back showing a very small amount of blood, doc said it was 16, the test picks up anything over 10 but this is set alot lower than the usual over 50s bowel screening test so it wouldn't have been picked up on that.
I'm in tomorrow for a rectal examination and to discuss a colonoscopy.
I'm terrified it's bowel cancer. I often get right sided pain that I've had an ultrasound and ct scan just in January this year and it was clear.
Has anyone else had positive fit test and what was the outcome?

I had a positive Fit test in 2022 after tests were completed following tummy problems. I think the reading was 29. Blood tests were ‘normal’. I had a CT virtual where they found a tiny polyp. This was removed a week later during a colonoscopy. Thankfully it was benign but a very worrying time. Turns out my tummy problems were down to stress.

My consultant told me that 9/10 positive Fit tests are not cancer. Your reading is very low so even it if is, it likely has been caught early.

Telling you not to worry is fruitless however statistically there is a 90% chance you don’t have cancer.

@WatieKatie thanks, I keep telling myself my level is low so hoping if it is anything its very early.
I have a rectal examination today 🙈 and doc said she'll redo my fit test while waiting for colonoscooy appointment to come through.
I am a worrier and think that has a lot to do with some of my issues.

How did you get on op?

Try not to worry too much about it. If your stools are solid and well formed, then it’s very very unlikely to be cancer. All the best.
