Worried and stressed

Abit long winded but I need to get it off my chest cause I'm going to go crazy.

My mum is 46 and over the past few years she's been quite poorly, she had an endoscopy and colonoscopy coming up to two years ago in November! She's recently struggled to swallow it doesn't get stuck it just hurts to swallow.

Abit of background to her health she has:
Type 2 diabetes
Arthritis
Hiatus hernia
Gastritis
Diverticular disease
GERD
High blood pressure.
Fatty liver

So she obviously went to the doctor's last week and had her diabetes appointment, has her bloods taken then received a phone call from the doctor. She had to go for another blood test then appointment.

Her doctor said he blood sugar is through the roof 100 and something I believe? And she's worried her liver is hardening because her liver tests weren't great either! Which makes sense because she's had pain exactly where the liver is!

She's has a endoscopy booked for next Tuesday but they want a CT because they do the Endoscopy no idea why?
She's also got a liver ultrasound next Wednesday. So as you can imagine I'm really really stressed and worried that she's either got a) esophageal cancer or b) liver cancer

She's not jaundice or anything like that, she has lost some weight but she's not had much of an appetite so this is making me worry more 😔

Sorry you’re worried. A few things jump out at me from your post:

(a) does she drink alcohol? Speaking as someone who had a drinking problem, the issues that are flagging up are all ones that for me (minus the diabetes) were the exacerbated by heavy drinking. If she is drinking, she needs to stop.

(b) how are her bowels? Has she ever had her faecal elastase tested? Nothing you’ve mentioned screams cancer to me. But it does sound like someone who is not managing her diabetes well and could have an issue with her pancreas. I have exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. It caused bowel issues, malabsorption of nutrients, and also a dull ache over the liver area (it was pancreatic inflammation, not my liver, but they are right next to eat other). The pancreas is involved in diabetes obviously, but it also creates digestive enzymes, which can cause all sort of GI issues. If that hasn’t been explored, it’s worth having it tested at least to rule it out.

She doesn't drink and she has a bowel test done sometime in the year, she's had a colonoscopy at the same time as her endoscopy a couple years ago but she had nothing apart from the divertular disease. I think alot of it is to do with the diabetes, she'd not seen a nurse for it since last September 😔 i think we're worried because she knows a few people who have either passed or recently been diagnosed with esophageal cancer or liver cancer! So we're on edge!

Especially because she has to have a CT before her endoscopy which we can't understand why
