Cervical smear result

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to get results back for cervical smear tests these days? I live in London.

I was told by the nurse to wait for 4 weeks and to call the GP Practice if i dont hear anything within 4 weeks. Im just anxious as this was my first ever cervical smear test and want to find out what my results are.

The nurse did tell me that if it is negative than I should hear back a bit sooner and if it is positive than it might take longer.

For many personal reasons I refuse to have cervical smears done but you do usually hear back within that 4 weeks, try not to worry to much unless you have any symptoms that are worrying xx all the best xx

Thank you @Mum2threexx I dont have any symptoms at all. I'm just trying to keep myself busy and not think about it.

@Mum2threexx just wanted to say that I received my results and they've come back as HPV negative....next test in 3 years time....so relieved to get the results back :)
