Partial nephrectomy on possibly both kidneys

Has anyone had a partial nephrectomy, on either one or both kidneys.

Waiting to see the surgeon about best options, I suspect it'll be a full nephrectomy on one kidney and partial on the other due to size of tumours.

Absolutely terrified of what to expect or what will follow afterwards.

Any experiences, successful or not, would be a good help.

Hey there,
I have no helpful experience to share, but I just wanted to say that I read your post and wish you all the best with your surgery. The best of luck to you, and best wishes in your recovery.

Thank you. Finding it hard to find people who I can relate to.

My son had a full nephrectomy about 9 years ago, just one kidney removed as it was dysplastic. His other kidney is healthy although much bigger than normal. The operation was keyhole and was successful and took about 4/6 weeks recovery. To look at him now you wouldn't know he'd had it done. Not quite the same as you I know, but just thought I'd reply if it helps you.

Thank you. Good to hear he's good with one kidney.
