I have had a mark on my big toe for a couple of months, i went to the gp to have it looked at and she asked me if i have dropped anything on it etc and i couldnt remeber.
anyway she said it it could be a bruise under the nail and too keep a eye on it.
I left my appointment and then received a text asking to send over a picture of my toe, a few days ago I then received a appointment to attend the hospital on this Friday (12th) I logged into my nhs app and on my appointments I have been referred for suspected skin cancer!

im now panicking and worried but will just have to wait to see what happens Friday! Has anyone else had any toe nail issues etc and been to these appointments? I will attach a picture of my nail, I feel sick 😫 excuse the unpainted toes!

My DH had similar (although quite a bit bigger). GP took a scraping from under the nail (sore!) and sent it for testing. It was fine, nothing to worry about (can't remember what it was called). It lasted a couple more months then just went away as the nail grew. GP just said to come back if it reappears.

I have similar but much bigger on my two big toenails - it's from the pressure of wearing hard-cased spinning shoes. It's literally just a bruise and, for me, also a slight elevation in the nail itself as the spin shoe places pressure on the opposite side of the nail

From a quick google of toenail melanoma pics, this looks very different. The majority of those pics show fairly dark, prominent vertical lines which start in the nail bed and go up to the nail tip. Yours looks like a bruise or something similar.

Whatever it is, it's good that the NHS is being careful.

I'd say yours looks more like toenail fungus.

I went to my appointment and consultant said he does not think it is anything to worry about but wants to biopsy it just to make sure so going back in two weeks to have it done
