Hi

Looking for a way forward.

I had dcis last year.

Prior to diagnosis I was referred to a local hospital and had a biopsy. Six weeks later I hadn't heard anything. I therefore called and was rudely told that I would be contacted in due course if I required further treatment.

My husband had private health insurance and I sought a second opinion. Therefore I had all my surgery there.

My husband has now retired and therefore we don't have the private insurance anymore and are not in the financial situation to afford private healthcare.

I have developed a problem with my scar tissue earlier this year. I was referred to another hospital. I to fight to get the appointment as they originally rejected, Trying to refer myself to the first hospital where I had a biopsy,

I have developed lumps below my collar bone. I have called my GP. Who referred me to-the second hospital I attend this year following my surgery. They have refused to see me. They have rejected my referral.

I called my GP. The receptionist was very off hand. She booked me an appointment for a phone consultation. The first available appointment is middle of August.

She quite forthright told me I need to be seen by the first hospital where I had my biopsy. I replied why? She then began reading to me my medical history. She then told me that I had received surgery at the first hospital. I told her that no surgery had taken place at first hospital.

Feeling very upset and anxious.

I would rather not go back to first hospital.

Looking for some advice what to do next

TI A

You need an urgent two week referral to have this checked out, and in the appointment that you have, you can share your concerns about the poor communication last time. But don't turn down an appointment - this needs to be checked ASAP.

You need to tell the receptionist you think you have cancer and need to be urgently referred. Did you say cancer to her?

Your GP should refer you to the breast clinic, then they have to see you in 2 weeks. If the breast clinic happens to be at the first hospital you went to, I get it's going to cause some anxiety, but refusing it may be cutting off your nose to spite your face and may well delay investigation. The staff dealing with it may be entirely different to who dealt with you before, hospitals being large places with often a high turnover of staff. Your symptoms sound very concerning and you should accept an appointment anywhere asap.

A quick update

I have phoned my doctor this morning.

I am awaiting a call back from my GP.

I am querying why my 2 week referral was rejected!

@Whatatodo79 The GP receptionist was reading my medical notes to me and mentioned cancer several times!

@Opentooffers My GP has referred me to the breast unit. They have refused to see me!

I am looking to where to try next to get assistance
