My mum is dying and I can’t get to her

Hello lovely people. My mom was diagnosed with cancer 4 months ago and for 4 months it spread all over. She is on end of life in Spain at the moment. She is given maybe a couple of days left. I am in bits. Me and my mum have been together always and she is only 52 years old. We are Bulgarian and I live in UK and she in Spain. Unfortunately because of Brexit the waiting list for renewal of passports was months and I have an appointment to apply for it on the 20th June. Yet even after I applied I still have to wait for it to come back to me. My mum is dying and I can’t even hold her for the last time and the guilt is eating me alive. I’m just wondering if anyone has been in a situation similar to mine. I’m so scared and so is she and we FaceTime in the day but it’s not enough.

I'm so sorry OP. Is an emergency passport a possibility?

sending you lots of love - can you ring the passport office and ask their advice?

I have asked the Bulgarian embassy and they said the earliest is within 30 days. I’m so hopeful that when I get there there might be another way but it’s still eating me alive the guilt.

I'm so sorry. This is so sad.
As well as the passport office, is it worth speaking to the Bulgarian Embassy to see if they can arrange an emergency passport for you?

Cross post ☝️

This is so sad. It's tragically quick and young to die, so I think nothing would ever feel enough, nothing will make up for those lost yrs.❤
