Possible cervical cancer?

possible cervical cancer? Regardless, none of this is "normal".

Hello, SUPER long post ahead but I really need some advice.
Going to try and confine three months worth of nonsense into as little as I can..
I feel defeated and exhausted.
I gave birth three months ago, never had any complications or told anything abnormal during. This is my second child btw!
Anyway, fast forward a week after birth they called and said that I had a UTI. That same night I ended up getting mastitis (this matters bc I ended up going to urgent care the next morning for them to tell me my blood pressure was extremely high and suggested I go to the hospital) I ended up getting sepsis and was told that I DID NOT have a UTI. Anyway that subsided and I felt fine. Couple weeks later things just did not feel right down there. I went back to my OB, ran tests, said I had a UTI. Took meds, etc. Not to long after I started having bleeding about 8 weeks post partum. I thought that was strange, went BACK to my OB who said I had a “friable” cervix.. and I was “extremely inflamed” prescribed me something for a UTI AGAIN. - get this, found out I actually never even had been having UTIs! Everytime the culture came back, there was no growth.
Eventually I started having HORRIBLE back pain. I decided this time to go to my primary care provider. We got a referral to a urologist, thinking maybe this was bladder related somehow given that the OB did an internal ultrasound and didn’t find anything concerning. This was a waste, all she did was inform me that I never had been having UTIs, and that I empty my bladder well. She suggested that anytime I give a urine sample to wait to take meds incase the culture does come back: no growth.
Fast forward again, I have horrible back pain still, fevers that have been ongoing since the sepsis but on and off at night. I decide to go to the ER. We did a CT and blood tests. They wanted to see if maybe there was anything concerning that way, nothing. So this is just insane at this point. No one has any idea and there’s weird symptoms going on. I understand this is hard because I’m only two months post partum at this point and my body is all out of wack.
Now, my partner and I try intercourse. It hurts like hell! Next day, blood, inflammation again and super sore, almost feels like there’s a cut? So I go back to the OB who informs me that I have cervical erosion and I am tender and swollen but nothing to worry about as they don’t see anything unusual.
Okay, I’m almost done!!
I decided to now see a gyno and ask for another Pap smear since I’ve been googling like crazy. I had gotten a Pap smear in August that was fine but I just have this feeling. We get the pap done and I, of course, have to wait 3 weeks for results. Results came back abnormal cells. Figured! However, HPV was negative. I went back to see him two weeks ago for my sharp pain in my abdomen area and back pain. Was told I had a yeast infection. Took the meds, didn’t feel relief. Decided to go to urgent care about four days later to see if I still had a yeast infection, I did not. But they said I had high blood pressure still - I bring this to attention bc I have heard high blood pressure can be a result of an untreated infection?

Today, we are here. I have a colposcopy for early July. Before the procedure, I have another internal ultrasound. My symptoms are gradually getting worse. I just do not understand what is possibly going on.

My symptoms today are:
Pain in the vagina
Random bleeding
TONS of discharge
Sharp pain in my left ovary - sometimes right
Burning sensation underneath my belly bottom
Dizziness - like vertigo
Irritation & swollen vagina
Back pain
Starting to have to pee more frequently (this could just be me drinking tons of water during the day as I pump milk for my three month old)

I know you the only way to know is to just get the colposcopy but am I crazy for these things to be happening and no one being able to even get the right direction on what could possibly be going on? If the colposcopy turns out to be fine, does anyone know a better direction for me to take? Would you get a second opinion? I’m exhausted and haven’t been able to enjoy my baby since I’ve been in and out of the doctors so often :(

Thank you!!!

This was what I was worried about as well because after birth, the doctor mentioned she pulled some of my membrane out but to be cautious incase not all came out. However, the internal ultrasound did not show anything. I will also add, this hospital has many reviews on negligence after reviewing and my own experiences as well. So I already don't feel like I'm in the best hands but I can't argue the proof on the ultrasound I guess.
I feel like I have to keep advocating for myself so I can feel normal again but I don't know how anymore and July seems so far away but sticking in there for now..

1.Is there any way you can pay for a private transvaginal ultrasound scan? You don't need a referral for some places if you're self paying

  1. Did your blood test show elevated white cells or CRP - this would indicate infection
  2. Has the obs or gynae done vaginal/cervical swabs
  3. Sounds like pelvic infection
lostsole70 · 13/06/2024 17:20

Sounds terrible you poor woman. Def infection of some kind don't give up force them to do bloods and a scan

RagzRebooted · 13/06/2024 17:23

Abnormal cells can be caused by inflammation, also they aren't meant to do a smear within 12 weeks of birth as it can give a false positive due to changes to the cervix. Without a history of HPV the risk of cervical cancer is very low, I'd be considering infection to be a lot more likely, especially as smear less than a year ago was fine. I'd expect a TV ultrasound though, due to the ovary pain.

I should have added, yes! There's been about four instances now to check for STIs, and STD all come back negative. Until just recently apparently I had a yeast infection.
I haven't had blood work done recently but I feel like I should ask to get that done

This is so interesting! Well that eases my mind a bit on the cancer side of things, but worries me with everything else they keep saying in normal

I just went back to look at blood tests they e done it looks like a "CBC" and "CMP" have been done around March. I feel like I want to call and ask to get some blood work done especially based on my dizziness lately

It is almost certainly something birth related.

It would have to be right?! All they keep saying is everything "looks normal" down there and I fear that if the pap comes back normal (which I would imagine & pray!) that they won't try and figure anything else out and things is beginning to be a lot to deal with on top of my normal daily life

Ugh I hope they can figure it out! My last TV ultrasound didn't show anything. Going to try and get some blood work done before my procedure. Thank you!

My first guess was thrush. The meds don’t always fix it. The swabs aren’t always accurate.

Can you be more specific about what tests you’ve had and what meds you’ve had?

When you say they told you it was thrush, was that a guess or did they have a positive test? What meds did you take for it and what brand?

Yes! So far these are all the tests I have had done:
CBC - blood
CMP (COMPREHENSIVE METABOLIC PANEL
Sooo many urine cultures
CHLAMYDIA & GC DNA PROBE
Vaginitis screen - I've had about three or four of these to test for TRICHOMONAS, BV and CANDIDA. These always come back negative
Wet mounts (idk if you've heard of this I never had) - this is where he determined I had a yeast infection

I'm not medical but isn't this mist logically retained placenta?

The high BP, pains, high inflammation, discharge, bleeding.

Can they ultrasound? Scan or sedate and do a clean out? Swab and check for a uterus infection.

I'd be pushing hard before it turns any worse.

And I'm so sorry you are having to juggle this and a baby, but congratulations.

See, I would also agree but I've gotten an ultrasound since where they "didn't see anything" and never had any concerning bleeding. The bleeding I have now is random spotting in the discharge.
I almost wonder if it could MAYBE be pelvic inflammatory disease? It's sooo hard to tell given I'm 3 months post partum. However, with this it topically seems from like STI/STD from what I have read (which isn't what I have/have had) very very weird situation. I definitely want some blood work done soon especially bc I am getting extremely dizzy these days

Thank you so much!

Has anyone suggested pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis? I had similar symptoms, had a laparoscopy & first got told PID but after having a second lap for an ovarian cyst as I only consented to them having a look at the first lap as I hoped to try for a baby & didn't want to wake up having had any organs removed, I got a diagnosis of endometriosis.

This is exactly my thoughts after tons of research today!
May I ask if you had any symptoms leading up to this?
I am super shocked they wouldn't have mentioned this after countless doctor appointments and testing. Just crazy to me. I also read that the ultrasounds don't always show anything in specific to this..
then to add, when you got your laparoscopy was that through a gyno or urologist?

I hope you're doing okay??

So they’ve only actually been able to diagnose thrush. Which could cause most of the symptoms you’re describing. Pain, inflammation, bleeding, feeling tender and swollen, discharge.

What meds did you take when they said you had thrush?

Just fluconozole! (One tablet) oddly enough. When I got told I had thrush, I didn't even know! It was after that the discharge progressed. I also had / have one refill for this.

For the thrush? No just 150 mg tablet of fluconozole. Throughout these three months I've been on lots of antibiotics which as dicloxacillin, doxycycline, and cephalexin. This was mostly due to bacteria showing especially in my high white blood cell count but tests always ended up being negative after the culture would come back. Mostly the suspected "UTI" I've taken fluconazole twice, another time to be proactive on such harsh antibiotics for prolonged periods "just incase" they were to cause thrush.
