Potential endometrial cancer - in 2ww period

I had an ultrasound last week for vaginal bleeding post menopause. I've had several scans before where they found cysts and normally they tell me whether the cysts were stable / had grown. This time I asked her and she said the report would be with the dr in 2 days which immediately rang alarm bells. The next morning I had a text from the gp to say a referral had gone under the 2ww rule for suspected gynaecological cancer. The abdominal scan was painful on one side and I've been having pains over that side for a while which I've put down to IBS type symptoms.

Also last week - I was referred for a breast lump. So I'm waiting for 2 separate appts.

We are currently on holiday overseas and I've started bleeding again and I'm in pain. I haven't told DH about the 2ww referral because I don't want to ruin the holiday. It's also DS3's birthday on Sunday so I had hoped to get through this week and deal with it when we got back. But I can't sleep and I'm really struggling to hold it together.

I managed to get the scan report which says thickened endometrium but it's only 6.8mm which doesn't seem that thick (on googling). Could it be something else other than cancer?

I had the same pattern as you. Went for a vaginal scan. They found thickened endemtriol lining but it was 8mm. Consultant told me that they get worried about anything over ten mm. I also had a cyst on one ovary. Went for hysteroscopy for biopsy on lining and he couldn't do it due to my awful prolapse. So I've had a hysterectomy to get rid of the lot - post menopausal, don't need any of it. All good. No cancer found.
I have had breast cancer. Most lumps are benign and the majority of bcs are very treatable.
You will likely be sent for hysteroscopy for the lower half and a mamogramm and or ultrasound plus biopsy for upper half - that sounds scary - it isn't - I went back to work.
You are on holiday and you cannot do anything. I get it - I have awful anxiety at times but your anxiety leads to no change at all so you might as well push, as far as you can (can you get some bach rescue remedy or Weleda stress relief spray) it to the back of your mind. The waiting game is far worse than any treatment. I know you don't want to spoil things for your husband but I think you should tell him as you need his support.

Thanks. That's reassuring- I saw the 10mm figure as well which is why I was surprised I was referred. My SIL had endometrial cancer last year and had a full hysterectomy and I don't want to freak out DH unnecessarily.

I've also got a mass either in or pushing against my vagina. I only noticed it this week. Not sure if it's completely unconnected or not.

It may be a fibroid or a prolapse. To be honest, I am six weeks post hysterectomy and it hasn't been nearly as bad as I expected. The surgery caused more discomfort than my many bc surgeries and I was up and doing in a considerably shorter time frame after them. They will furtle around down there and let you know.

Try not to worry right now. There's not much you can do there or even if you was home.

If you start bleeding a lot you will have to tell dh and seek medical advice so if it helps ease your mind read your travel insurance and locate your nearest hospital but I think I'd only do that for say 30 minutes max then park it mentally.

I agree the lump could be a prolapse. It could be anything at all including nothing. You have done all the right things and are being reffered in 2w pathway so you have done everything you can.

Good luck

Appt has come through for next Monday at the breast clinic. Just waiting for the other one now.

Bleeding has tailed off. I did wonder about fibroids but at no point has anyone mentioned I've had them. The last ultrasound was 9 months ago. The bleeding is very light and not red.

Gynae appt is on Tuesday. What a fun week it's going to be. GP called me and said they would probably take a biopsy (although not at that appt). I think that means a hysteroscopy but I've heard so many horror stories of people who've had so much pain from them. All my DCs were born by cs, all premature. I've never even had a contraction. I nearly passed out when I had a coil insertion a few years ago. Just wondering what my options are.

I've told DH - the hospital phoned so I couldn't hide it any longer. I'm also still bleeding. On day 4 now.
