Skin cancer biopsy

Hi. I’m going for a biopsy on a sore on my nose on Monday. BCC suspected.

can anyone advise what this might involve and if it will be obvious someone has done something to my nose? I haven’t told my kids and want to be prepared if it’s obvious and I need to tell them

It will be a local anaesthetic and not take very long, nothing to worry about pain wise. Being on your nose it will be visible of course but dermatology are very good at what they do. Well from my personal experience as an NHS patient anyway.
If it is just a BCC then removal should pretty much be the end of it. The only issue might be having enough spare skin to cover what is removed if it is really large.
I don’t say “just” to minimise your experience but obviously it is 100 times better than melanoma.
Hope it goes well.

Thanks. Do they take much for the biopsy?

I don’t have a very thick/fleshy nose so I’m a bit worried what will happen if they take a chunk out!!
