Breast biopsy

I had a biopsy the other day and have an appointment in two weeks to get the result. Is this normal? I went because I felt something in my armpit but they have said that this is nothing sinister but they have found a 'pattern' on my breast. It showed on the mammogram and then on a second mammogram which took lots of pictures. It didn't show on the ultrasound.

So questions - is two weeks normal for biopsy results and is it good or bad (or neither!) that it showed on the mammograms but not the ultrasound?

Thanks.

From memory many, many years ago, about 20 years in fact, it was a bout 2 weeks and it was all clear (re someone very close to me)

Good luck

Yes 2 weeks or longer is how long it takes

I just had a biopsy done, on something I'm almost positive is benign. They told me 2-3 weeks for results. That's normal. Try not to fret. Also, know that there are a lot of things your body can grow.
In the past few years I've had fibroids removed from my uterus and a lipoma (fatty tissue) from my leg.
I was nervous about both of them because you never know. I only bring it up now, because there are a lot of reasons a lump could form.

I've had 2 rounds of biopsies now, and both times I was told it would be 2-3 weeks, hopefully closer to 2. It actually took just over a week for the initial findings (very definitely cancer) so I got partial results first so we could start discussing treatment plans etc.

If it helps at all, it sounds like my scans looked very differerent to yours. Mine was quite obvious on the ultrasound.

Thanks. Good to hear the turnaround is standard. They did say indefinite rather than suspicious but I think they are playing it safe given my age (59) and BC in the family.

Mangobiscuits - sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope the treatment goes well.

about normal for a breast biopsy. Although what I was told it looked like at the time turned out to be true, so if you have not been told it looks suspicious, or it looks like cancer, that is probably a good sign.

The waiting is horrible, isn't it

Yes, it's the not knowing - and trying (and failing) not to google!

I was told at the same appointment as my biopsies that they had seen something worrying.
The results came back in a week and confirmed what they'd seen.

@Almosthadenoughacademic , I could have written this. I had routine breast check 1st Feb at mobile clinic. Got letter asking me to go to Eccles Street foe further testing. Total panic. Went 21st, had fresh mammogram, then into see doctor for ultrasound. Ultrasound took ages. She couldn't find what showed up on mammogram. She showed me small white area. She told me she didn't thin there was anything ro worry about but would take a biopsy. Went into next room for core biopsy. Lying on a table face down, local anaesthetic in the breast. Markers or clips inserted. New mammography to.mLe sure clips were in place. In to see nurse who just told me to come back on 7th March. Don't know what to think, keep waiting on the phone to ring. Over 2 weeks wait is torture. Been looking for a forum to talk to people in tye same boat but can only find American sites. Thanks.
