Pain in my arm

Hi, I've been having treatment for lymphoma and since the first week (three weeks ago) I've had bad pain in my arm/elbow area. I have really obvious veins, they're blue and gross, but I can't see where the pain is coming from. My arm isn't red or swollen or anything like that.

I thought at first that the pain was caused by having my blood pressure taken so often on that arm but I asked them to swap arms last time and it hasn't made any difference - the pain is still there. I've taken paracetamol and ibuprofen before and today I've taken diclofenac and paracetamol but the pain is relentless. Any idea what it could be? Google says phlebitis 🤔 has anyone else had an IV in their arm and then had pain for this long after? The pain isn't at the point the IV went in and it's not where blood has been drawn either.

I'm going to have to see a doctor aren't I ☹️

Please contact your team as soon as possible. I also have lymphoma and got visible blue veins in my arm, it was a DVT. In my case caused by my picc line - do you have one? You need an ultrasound and blood thinners asap if it is a blood clot

I don't have a picc line. I told them about it yesterday and they had a look and told me to take ibuprofen. I am worried about it so I'll see how the ibuprofen helps this week and if it's still bad at my best treatment then I'll insist on an ultrasound.

I think it is very rare to get a DVT in your arm unless it's caused by something like a picc line, so hopefully I've worried you for no reason! Not being red or swollen is a good sign.

Ha ha, no worries. It's just bloody painful until I take the ibuprofen.

I'm flying in a couple of weeks so I'm going to get a compression sock for my arm, just in case.
