Toe melanoma or normal?

So when I was in my teens, I tripped over my brothers PlayStation wire and banged my toe against the cupboard.

I had bruising and it never went away. Never bothered me after the initial pain but it looks like a half painted toenail so 20 years on, I decided to finally google how to get rid of it, thinking it was common… now I’m worried it’s melanoma!!!

Has anyone has a toe injury that never grew out? Everywhere I look, it says it should grow out but it’s been 20+ years now. The streak is what’s worrying me, it’s always been a straight line.

Have you ever had it looked at by a gp/dermatologist?
Is the streak new?

Has it looked exactly like this for 20+ years? If so then I doubt it's anything sinister. Prob worth a mention when you're next in though.

Streaks always been there, it’s always just been perfectly half my nail and I’ve never seen anyone about it - I was far too young when it happened and just kept getting told by the adults in my life that it would grow out. I don’t think it’s grown or changed in appearance over those years.

I’ve only just decided to look at it now as I’d had an epiphany that maybe it doesn’t need to remain the way it is!
