FIT test came back positive

Rosienose · 18/12/2023 14:02

Just read on my NHS app that my fit test came back positive. I’m waiting to speak to a doctor. It says I have been referred for 2 week wait check due to suspected cancer. The results say 78 ug h/b (0.0 - 5.0) anyone know how much this means they found over threshold?

I am a 43 women, have had all my blood tests come back ok. Symptoms have been noticed blood in poo, and some mucus. Sore lower back on either side and coccyx pain. Having a full pelvic mri and uterine mri tomorrow as also had some blood in my urine. Doctor did a full check of me and didn’t find any obvious cause such as piles. Obviously am terrified. I have 2 small children and I am really scared. Will the 2 week wait now be for a colonoscopy?

Thanks

I’m ok thanks, colonoscopy is tomorrow & just drank the first litre of the nasty moviprep, was disgusting. Now just waiting for it to take effect. Looking forward to getting it over with tomorrow. Thank you

Good luck with your procedure

Ilovealido · 03/01/2024 23:51

Yes hope it goes ok @Rosienose

snapple21 · 03/01/2024 23:52

Best of luck! The prep is the worst.

Turbulent1 · 04/01/2024 00:03

Hope all goes well for you

Rosienose · 04/01/2024 14:04

Thank you. All done now. No polyps found, they did 4 biopsies for possible Ulcerative colitis.

That sounds positive @Rosienose. Have you heard back about the CT scan? Hope the colonoscopy wasn’t too uncomfortable.

Rosienose · 04/01/2024 14:54

Thanks so much @Ilovealido I was pleased that I didn’t really feel anything much from the colonoscopy, the sedation worked well as I was relaxed but still able to watch it all. Feel a bit bloated now I’m home as ate too much too quickly!

I asked today about the MRI results but they didn’t have them yet, tried calling as well but no answer. I just have the cystoscopy on the 15th now. I’m not sure what happens though if all tests come back ok, but no explanation as to the blood that has been in my stool and urine?

How are you? I hope you had a good Xmas and are doing ok? X

@Rosienose that sounds positive. I've been thinking of you. Glad that all seemed well today and hope that all the other results come back clear. X

So good to hear! How do you feel? Relieved?

ive got mine booked in for 10th January. Had my call today… they said it’s reassuring I’m not anaemic and losing weight. And they reckon it’s like an IBD type thing but obv couldn’t say with out doing the colonoscopy

Ilovealido · 04/01/2024 16:43

Bless you for asking @Rosienose! I’m ok, had a bit of a reaction to my treatment but they’ve tweaked it now so I could enjoy Christmas. I’m glad the colonoscopy was ok for you. I had one that was fine & another that was a bit painful but not sure why! It does seem to take ages for scan results to come back at the mo. I’m not sure what happens if everything comes back clear & you’re still having symptoms. I guess they would have to continue investigating. Are you still having the same symptoms? I suppose if they’re checking for ulcerative colitis that could be one explanation.

@Qwerty93 hope all goes well tomorrow.
I’m lurking on this thread as DH has just had a FIT test 160 and so awaiting colonoscopy appt but wanted to send everyone a virtual hug.

Rosienose · 09/01/2024 21:32

@Ilovealido hope the treatment is still continuing ok with no further reaction? So glad you were able to enjoy Christmas.

@Qwerty93 yes good luck for tomorrow hope the prep has been ok.

@The80sThe80s hope that your DH gets his colonoscopy date soon. Tell him it’s not to bad and have sedation, the waiting is the worst I found.

Thank you. 🙏.

I’m just about to have my last 250 ml of moviprep: although I’m still not running clear and I’ve not eaten since last night at 10pm (although it was a packet of crisp!) starving!

hopefully I’ll go to bed and continue through the night and it will run clear

Qwerty93 · 09/01/2024 22:18

Ah hopefully it will be ok and nothing serious! I’m sure it will be, FIT test just means your bleeding, so hopefully it’s more piles related than anything!

my main symptom is I sit o the toilet for wee and mucus just passes out my bum.

Rosienose · 10/01/2024 09:58

I was worrying about not being clear as well @Qwerty93 but it got there in the end. I found drinking lots of water helped.

I have a cystoscopy today, what a treat!

I’m just waiting. Got my cannula in….

I ran clear at half 1 this morning for two times. So went to bed, however this morning when I went I passed a small stool. But haven’t been since.

just going to see what happens.

I haven’t eaten since Monday night

Rosienose · 10/01/2024 10:30

Good luck, am sure it’s cleared you out enough 🤞

How are you @Qwerty93

OP posts:
Qwerty93 · 12/01/2024 08:20

thank you for asking.

I found it so painful! I took max sedation 😂.

they took biopsies, on my report they wrote ?proctitis (which I think is mild UC). But just needs confirmation

Weenurse · 12/01/2024 21:52

How was the cystoscopy?

Rosienose · 14/01/2024 20:09

That’s really good to hear. Sounds from the symptoms etc that it will be procitis. I was told results of biopsies won’t be back for 6-8 week.

The cystoscopy was clear thanks. No idea really what has caused either of the bleeds etc now so a bit confused but relieved

OP posts:
Qwerty93 · 14/01/2024 20:15

Yes same. I was told 5/6 weeks for biopsies. From my research on line, proctitis is essentially a mini version of UC.

I can’t get over how painful the colonoscopy was though!

although since the two days following the colonoscopy … all my mucus and symptoms have gone :/ hahah

Qwerty93 · 25/01/2024 18:37

Have you had your letter about biopsies back yet?
