Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if any of you have been through a FNA.
Backstory, I'm in my 20s and have already had a serious cancer diagnosis (mesothelioma..) when I was 23. I'm currently NED, and incredibly lucky to get that far as mesothelioma is a bitch to treat. A long 8 hour surgery, copious amounts of chemo and an ICU stay, I've managed to make it this far. I have many complications due to this, 2 life long serious heart conditions and a digestive system that doesn't work a lot of the time.
Anyway I'm a few years on and I found a lump in my neck recently. Within 2 weeks I had bloods (thyroid check came back normal) had an ultrasound and also a camera down my nose / throat.
I have a 3cm lump, that's not fluid filled but there is fluid in the area IYSWIM, on my thyroid. I'm having FNA Monday (I'm shitting myself about that..) they've graded it at a 3. It's growing, slowly and slightly impacting swallowing. The consultant asked if I'd been around a lot of radiation and I have! Lots of xrays, CTs etc. not sure if that's relevant.
Anyway, FNA Monday then wait to hear.
Anyone been through similar? I'm not too worried as thyroid cancers are very treatable. Just looking for anyone else who has been through this or similar. I don't think it's linked to my mesothelioma at all, recent MRI in July was NED thankfully!
