Am on my second lot of anti-emetics, still not really managing it

I find nibbling cream crackers helps a bit

Anyone got any tips?

I have been advised today to drink coconut water

I'm on targeted therapy drugs which make me nauseous.
I suck ginger sweets ( gin gins they are called) Barley sugars and strong mints.

Oneearringlost · 04/03/2024 14:53

What anti emetics have you been prescribed?

HoldMyLatte · 05/03/2024 20:49

Bit of a funny one but worked (sometimes) for me, sniffing a bottle of malt vinegar. Always say its worth a try.

I should clarify, by sniffing I mean smelling, not like sniffing it up your nose with a straw 😂

Camomile tea can be good for nausea and very soothing.
Sending you very best of wishes

I found granisetron to be the best antisickness but wasn’t offered it at first…

Nibbling plain stuff did help a bit… but the medication was essential.

An incredibly random one from me, I found pastry helped, so sausage rolls or pasties. The more carbs and fat I ate the less sick I felt. Or salted chips (again carbs with fat but not something like bread and butter, the fat had to be integral to the carb). Hope you feel better soon.

Zombie thread from me, but getting waves of nausea at the moment so very helpful!

I found fasting really helpful and didn't need to take any of the anti-nausea medication/steroids (which gave me restless legs and stopped me sleeping). Also makes the chemo more efficacious.

mothermayai · 06/03/2024 06:44

Fasting on the day of chemo. Realised that wasn't made clear.

Yes I agree with this.
Doughnuts too!

Enigma52 · 06/03/2024 09:28

Fizzy sweets/ boiled sweets. The sucking reflex helps i think.

Custard doughnuts.

Gin gins are on Amazon/ in Holland and Barr and are good.

I relied on Extra Strong Mints the ones in the green and white paper roll. The powdery texture didn’t hurt my mouth either x

Allegedly the alcohol wipes at hospital if you sniff them help greatly with nausea- although haven't tried it and only recently heard of it.

Sugar helps sweets even though I didn't fancy them
