Went to a dentist over a year ago with a lump on the inside of my lip and under the tongue. The dentist wasn't worried but made a referral. Over a year later (saw no change in the lumps) and I attended the surgery where they have removed the lumps. The doctor said it will be 6-8 weeks for the results. A week after, the nurse called to check how I was getting on and asked how do I want to get my results. I said over the phone.

Thursday comes and I get a message with face to face appointment. So I am freaking out that it is cancer. The results are back really quick and they booked face to face. I called up and they changed the appointment to over the phone one but obviously they won't tell me what the results are.

What do you think? Do I have anything to worry about? Would they change it to a over the phone one if cancer present (they don't see the results so maybe?).

I know its awful waiting, but I don't think anyone could tell you in all honesty one way or the other. They give a big window on when results will be back as sometimes they need to do more analysis on the biopsy sample to see what exactly is going on - and sometimes its straightforward. And it could not have been recorded properly that you were happy with a phone call.
FWIW, when my dad had a tongue biopsy for non healing massive sores, his results came back very quickly and he was called in for results. But it wasn't cancer, but a weird autoimmune disease where he needed to see a special consultant in London and have treatment, but absolutely nothing life threatening at all.
I hope all is clear for you on Monday
