What gifts to buy for someone in chemo?

I have a colleague (lovely person though not a close friend) who is out for a few months having chemo. We’d like to keep her spirits up and were going to send flowers every few weeks but i looked it up and saw that because they have bacteria it’s not advised to send flowers to chemo patients? Apologies for my stupidity here I have never had a family member or anyone close go through this.

Can anyone recommend sort of smallish things we could send intermittently which won’t compromise her immune system but might cheer her up?

I also thought of nice scented candles like Jo Malone if she’s in the house all the time but then if chemo makes you feel nauseous smelly things may also not be ideal?

Any ideas gratefully received x

Nice handcream, fluffy socks. If you google it, on Ebay/Amazon there are kits to send to people undergoing chemo which will give you ideas.

MooGoo stuff. It’s not strongly scented and is also suitable to use during radiotherapy.

It’s not ridiculously expensive but may be more expensive than what your colleague would normally use. It’s in some of the chemo gift hampers you can get — it’s how I found out about it!

I would say diliveroo or just eat vouchers, can get herself a meal of what she fancies when she fancies it

Something to look at in the garden? Bulbs which will come up next spring or have some pre-planted in a nice pot for a patio.

Reactions to chemo are totally different depending on the chemo your friend is receiving. So not everyone wants/ needs fluffy socks or the stuff you see in those "chemo gift boxes" .Also she's likely to be inundated with that stuff.

Flowers wouldn't really be a problem but my absolute best present has been vouchers for Cook. They are ready meals but home cooked quality so much healthier than fast food. It means I can order a range of stuff then choose what I fancy on the day.

I really appreciated sweet treats that I could enjoy in small doses, brownies, cannolis, honeyed nuts, etc.

I am currently undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiation and in all honesty , just a text message or what’s app message just to say thinking of you , or hope you ok is there anything I can do is just soo lovely to read , I’ve been off work now due to a different problem , as I have worked through my treatment but just letting someone know that you care is lovely , nicer than any present but if I was to receive a present It would be chocolate haha , that’s only because I am a chocolate lover , I don’t like receiving flowers because they remind me of death ( that’s just me though ) it’s just soo nice knowing your friend has lovely work colleagues who are thinking of her , candles are a lovely gesture as well but that would also depend on how her smell is affected , one more thing would be a really warm some type of hoodie , even just a cheap one as if she home all day , if her home is not warm like mine it’s hard keeping warm , I got really warm ones from primark they are brilliant only cheap , but honestly just a message I think she would appreciate more , hope this helps .
